A visit to Happy Rascal Ranch is an immersion in equine culture. We have family bands of mustangs that were originally wild, with young, middle aged, and old horses, rescued senior horses, donkeys, and mini donkeys and mules.

We are open on Sundays spring through fall for plein air art, and picnics in the wild horse pasture. We offer lead rides for children on the seniors Jacob, Bonito, Leo and Tucker. Suggested $25 donation.

We invite and encourage artists, photographers, nature and horse lovers to visit our wild horse pastures in Pena Blanca. To get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air, and embrace your passion, being motivated and inspired by the herd. Contact us directly to set up a visit.

  • Learn about the language of the horse

“Art is a universal language. Given a piece of paper and pencil we all draw happiness and sadness the same way. When I sketch a horse, they turn and look at me. This is an example of cross species communication, and is life affirming. Getting into a meditative state through drawing facilitates communication with animals.” Sally G. Hall.
